When we moved into this house, this is what the front entryway looked like:

Disclaimer: we had NO part in doing this – it was like this when we got here. Needless to say, hubby and I wanted to change this. However, the space didn’t really allow for a proper closet since it’s juuuuuust not deep enough. Almost, but not quite. I got to work, perusing Pinterest into the wee hours of the morning, trying to come up with some kind of inspiration as to what I could do. For some reason, this had me stumped for quite some time. I went back and forth with ideas for months and months, not really sure what I was going to do. I know, I know, it’s really not that difficult, but I have a habit of making things harder than they need to be sometimes.

Finally, one weekend at Ikea, they had a big sale on all their Kallax pieces. Since I’d just been eyeing these, it seemed like a sign that this is what I needed to use to create a better front entryway. I think the biggest part of what stumped me was deciding what color of furniture I was going to put there. I knew I was going to paint the walls in a light taupe/sandy color (Olympic Icon in Bermuda Sand) and I had a wall (that you can’t see) already painted in my favorite shade of blue (Olympic Icon in Aqua Chiffon) in the attached front office. Since the Kallax color options were very limited, I knew I had to pick between black (which we already have in the office) and white. Figuring that I wanted a change and I also wanted the entryway to be inviting, I went with white.

*Drumroll*

I also bought a Lack shelf that I figured could be additional storage for out of season items. I just love how much the white brightens up the space! It also makes it feel so much more beachy, which I’m ALWAYS in favor of! Here are more pictures (I know that’s what you really want to see!):

PS: aren’t these pineapple hooks the best?! I’m so happy with how the entryway turned out. It’s even better than I imagined and it’s now one of my favorite parts of the house. It also ties in beautifully with the blue wall I mentioned earlier, but you’ll have to wait for that reveal 😉 Let me know what you think of how the entryway turned out!
